RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE 2024-2025
Functions:
- Promote and support research activities among faculty and students by offering mentorship, facilities, and guidance.
- Facilitate identification and application for external funding such as government grants, CSR funds, and industry sponsorships.
- Organize regular workshops, seminars, conferences, and research capacity-building programs.
- Build collaborations with external institutions and industries for joint research, internships, and consultancy.
- Provide guidance on research methodology, project development, and writing proposals.
- Encourage innovation and translation of research into practical solutions or products.
- Implement mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating ongoing research projects.
- Support publication in peer-reviewed, high-impact journals and conference presentations.
- Guide researchers through the process of patent filing and managing intellectual property rights.
- Promote ethical research practices by enforcing compliance with institutional and regulatory norms.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and periodically update the institutional research policy and strategic framework.
- Set short-term and long-term research goals aligned with institutional vision and healthcare needs.
- Motivate faculty, students, and staff to actively engage in research and development activities.
- Encourage interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and collaborative research.
- Review and approve research proposals based on quality, feasibility, and ethical standards.
- Recommend appropriate allocation of resources—funds, infrastructure, time—for research.
- Facilitate access to internal and external research funding sources.
- Assist in patent filing, copyrighting, and management of intellectual property.
- Promote commercialization of innovations and support start-up initiatives.
- Ensure continuous improvement in research output by tracking publications, citations, and research impact metrics.
