RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE 2024-2025


Functions:

  • Promote and support research activities among faculty and students by offering mentorship, facilities, and guidance.
  • Facilitate identification and application for external funding such as government grants, CSR funds, and industry sponsorships.
  • Organize regular workshops, seminars, conferences, and research capacity-building programs.
  • Build collaborations with external institutions and industries for joint research, internships, and consultancy.
  • Provide guidance on research methodology, project development, and writing proposals.
  • Encourage innovation and translation of research into practical solutions or products.
  • Implement mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating ongoing research projects.
  • Support publication in peer-reviewed, high-impact journals and conference presentations.
  • Guide researchers through the process of patent filing and managing intellectual property rights.
  • Promote ethical research practices by enforcing compliance with institutional and regulatory norms.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and periodically update the institutional research policy and strategic framework.
  • Set short-term and long-term research goals aligned with institutional vision and healthcare needs.
  • Motivate faculty, students, and staff to actively engage in research and development activities.
  • Encourage interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and collaborative research.
  • Review and approve research proposals based on quality, feasibility, and ethical standards.
  • Recommend appropriate allocation of resources—funds, infrastructure, time—for research.
  • Facilitate access to internal and external research funding sources.
  • Assist in patent filing, copyrighting, and management of intellectual property.
  • Promote commercialization of innovations and support start-up initiatives.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in research output by tracking publications, citations, and research impact metrics.
